Jordan of Amelia and Nansemond Counties
Samuel Jordan sailed from England in the vessel "Sea Adventurer" probably in 1608. He ship was wrecked on Vext Bermoothea island. Samuel Jordan finally obtained passage to Jamestown, Virginia a year later. He served as a member of the first Assembly of Virginia which met 1619 in Jamestown.
Thomas Jordan, son of Samuel, was born 1600 in England, served as burgess from 1696 to 1697. He was married to Lucy Corker, a daughter of Captain Corker of Surry County, Virginia.
Thomas Jordan, son of Thomas, was born 1634, married Margaret Brasseua (born Jul 1642, died 7 Oct 1698. He also served as a burgess from 1696 to 1697 in Nansemond County. Issue:

- Robert Jordan.
- Benjamine Jordan.
- Matthew Jordan.
- Samuel Jordan, born 15 February 1679, Colonel in Amelia County. He was married to Elizabeth Fleming, a daughter of Colonel Charles Fleming of New Kent County, Virginia on 10 Oct 1703 or 1713. His Last Will and Testament dated 1750, probated 1761 in Amelia County, Virginia. Issue:
- William Jordan, married Mary. Issue: William, Granville and Robert Jordan. Issue:
- Robert Jordan, born 1717. Wife, Susannah. Issue:
- Robert Jordan, Sr., a Royalist, was born 1755, married in 1778 Elizabeth Church, a daughter of Richard Church of Amelia county. He died 1816. Issue: Robert, Richard, Samuel, Henry, Elam, John, Elijah, Mary, Elizabeth and Mary.
