Francis Jerdone came to America in 1740 from Scotland and established his plantation Pigeon Run, 3000 acres overlooking the North Anna River. The property crossed the Pigeon Run stream. Jerdone was a prosperous planter and merchant.
Francis Jerdone (1756-1841),purchased the Roxbury plantation formerly owned by Thomas Patteson, then John Christian about 1782 along with 790 acres of land. Francis Jerdone was married to Polly Byars. They called their home in Louisa County, Jerdone Castle. His daughter, Sarah Jerdone (1803-1863) was married to Clayton C. Coleman and removed to Roxbury to take control of it.
