Humphreys of Greenbrier County, Virginia


About 1775 Samuel Humphreys (1740-1820), left North Ireland to go to Pennsylvania; from there he removed to Greenbrier County, Virginia where he was married to Grazilla Donaldson.

Robert Humphreys (1783-1849), son of Samuel, was married to Jean Wylie (1784-1863), and they had issue:

Milton Wylie HumphreysMilton Wylie Humphreys was born in Greenbrier County, Virginia (now West Virginia) on 15 Sept 1844. He was the son of Andrew Cavet Humphreys (1810-1866), a physician and justice of Greenbrier County. Andrew was married in 1832 to Mary McQuain Hefner (1813-1893) and had the following children, viz: Caroline Jane Humphreys who married Robert Mason White; Samuel Alexander Humphreys who married Sarah Haptonstall; Andrew Jackson Humphreys, died 1923, married Eliza Eads; Malinda Agnes Humphreys married Frank Rutledge; Mary Elizabeth, died 1876, married Dudley E. Dent, and Milton Wylie Humphreys.
