Harman of Tazewell and Giles Counties


Daniel Harman, Sr., son of Adam Harman, was born ca 1729 in Pennsylvania. He came with his father to Virginia about 1735 and later settled on New River in Giles County. He was a known Indian fighter, and explored the country with George Draper. He was captured by Indians in 1757 at which time his brother, Valentine Harman, was killed. Daniel escaped. He went on an exploring expedition to the Abba Valleyand Ingles Crab Orchard in 1760. On 21 April 1764 he was married to Anna Bughsen in Rowan County, North Carolina. The couple resided in Rowan County until 1773 when he removed to the head of the Clinch River in Tazewell County where he died in 1820. Issue:
