Henry Edmunds of "Elm Hill" was the first to come to Halifax County.
John R. Edmunds of "Redfield" built a large home before the War Between the States with brick made by the slaves, colonial-style, containing fourteen rooms. He was married to Mildred Coles, daughter of isaac Cols Sr. and his wife, Lightfoot Carrington of "Springwood" near Meadsville. Issue: Paul, Nannie C., Henry, John R., Lizzie Lightfoot and Sallie Edmmunds.
Captain Henry Edmunds of "Elm Hill" married Martha Morton. Issue:
