Eason of Talbot County, Maryland and Botetourt and Washington Counties, Virginia



The first Eason to Maryland appears to be John Eason, born 1644, died October 1678, resided in Talbot County and married Ann or Anna in 1663. Anna married second, Arthur Norwood in 1679.

John Eason was born ca 1664 and died 3 Mar 1717 in St. Peter's Parish, Talbot County, Maryland. The first record of him in Talbot County was in Liber Book KK5, ff.1789, date 22 August 1688, George Parrott and his wife, Elizabeth, deeded to John Eason, 116 acres, for 10,000# tobacco known as "Poplar Level", East of the Chesapeake Bay in the woods on a branch of the Beaverdam of Kings Creek, being the northernmost branch near Tackahoe Road. On 10 April 1711 John Eason witnessed the Last Will and Testament of Francis Harrison. The deed of Will Sharpe, son of Peter Sharpe, to John Eason daed 10 September 1675 conveyed land on Claiborne's Island, lately Sharpe's Ialand. (History of Talbot County 1661-1862, Vol.2). Upon the death of John Eason, an administrator's bond was given on 9 February 1718 by Joseph Eason, administrator and was signed by Joseph Eason, Samuel Eason and Henry Boull. John was married to Mary Bodwell who died 10 June 1722 in St. Peter's Parish, Talbot County, Maryland. Issue:
  1. Edward Harrison, stepson of Joseph Eason, born ca 1721.
  2. Francis Eason, stepson of Joseph Eason, born 1723 in Talbot County, Maryland. His mother was carrying him at the time that her husband, Francis Harrison of Talbot County died. Apparently, the child was raised with the "Eason" name. On the tax records of Bullenbrookes Hundred in Talbot County, Francis was listed in the home of Joseph Eason as owning a plantation onPine Creek. Francis died in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1788, wherein his last will and testament mentioned that two of his daughters, Elizabeth and Nancy, had been taken by Indians, and should they ever be returned, he wished them care for. Issue:
    1. Nancy Eason.
    2. Elizabeth Eason.
    3. Joseph Eason, born before 1733, died ca 1751.
    4. Samuel Eason, born 13 September 1755 in Washington County, Virginia according to his Revolutionary War Pension, an died 6 Mar 1813 in Montgomery County, Virginia. He as married on 16 March 1778 to Nancy Ann Goodson.
  3. Samuel Eason, who was named in the LWT of Nicholas Lowe of Talbot County dated 25 Jan 1744, probated 7 Dec 1755 in Talbot County, Maryland, as being his "nephew, Samuel Eason, son of his sister, Dorothy Eason." He also named his nephew, Nicholas Eason.
  4. Nancy Eason was born 12 December 1726 in St. Peter's Parish, m. Mr. Millikin.
  5. Nicholas Eason.
  6. Elizabeth Eason, born 3 July 1731, record in St. Peters Parish, Talbot County, Maryland m. Mr. Bullen.
  7. John Eason, mentioned his "half brother, Edward Harrison" in his LWT Testament in Talbot County. Date: 1793. Sarah Eason, administratrix. He also named his brother, Samuel Eason and sisters, Elizabeth Bullen and Nancy Millikin.
  8. Mary Eason, born ca 1740, married William Franklin, Jr., born ca 1760 in Botetourt County, Virginia, removed to Warren County, Georgia.
King's Creek

John Eason owned 116 acres on King's Creek near the Tuckahoe Road and Chesapeake Bay.
