Dunn of James City County, Charles City County, Surry County


Thomas Dunn was born 1606, probably in England, came to James City County, Virginia in 1620 as the fourteen year old servant of Sir George Yeardley, Knight and Governor and Captain General of Virginia. In 1623 Thomas Dunn was on the Muster of Persons Living at Flower Dieu Hundred, which was located on the Southside of the James River, being part of the Weyanoke Plantation, which was the home of Governor Yeardley. The mansion was situated along the broder of Charles City County which later became Surry County. In his LWT dated 1683, a Robert Burgess (wife Ann) left his land to Thomas Dunn, the son of John Dunn, Sr. of Surry County. In a deed dated 4 March 1700 Thomas Dunn of Martin's Brandon Parish in Charles City County, Virginia, Planter, sold this same land given to him by the Burgess. Issue:
