Dillard of Henry County


James Dillard was born 15 October 1727 in Williamsburg, in James City County, Virginia, died 24 August 1794 in Amherst County, married on 4 Jul 1748 in Amherst County to Mary Hunt of Essex County (1734-1748). Issue:
  1. General John Dillard, son of Colonel John Dillard, was born 1783 in Henry County and resided at Font Hill, about six miles east of Martinsville, died 1822 in Amherst County. He was married to Sarah Stovall on 23 Dec 1771 in Henry County. He served in the House of Delegates and fought in the War of 1812. After the war the legislature gave him the rank of Brigadier General of the militia and at the time of his death was a member of the county court of Henry. Issue:
    1. Peter Francisco Dillard of Horsepasture Creek.
    2. John Lee Dillard of Horsepasture Creek.
    3. James Madison Dillard of Horsepasture Creek.
    4. George Penn Dillard of Horsepasture Creek.
