Cornelius Dabney was a church warden in St. Peters Parish, New Kent County, Virginia in 1685.
George Dabney, son of Cornelius, resided on the Pamunkey River opposite to Hanovertown.
Colonel William Dabney, son of George, resided on his plantation called "Aldringham" in Hanover County. He died before the onset of the American Revolution.
Captain George Dabney, son of William, was born in 1740 and died in 1824. George was a member of the Hanover County Committee of 1775 and served as a soldier during the Revolutionary War. He was married to Elizabeth Price, the grand-daughter of Colonel William and Elizabeth (Beverly) Randolph.
Judge John Dabney, son of Captain George, served as a member of the Virginia Senate from 1805 to 1808; appointed judge in the place of Judge Edmund Winston who resigned his office in 1813. Judge Dabney was married to his cousin, Susannah Dabney Morris.
John Blair Dabney (born 1795), son of Judge Dabney, was a noted lawyer and Episcopal Minister. He was married in 1822 to Elizabeth Lewis, daughter of Major Oliver Towles and wife Agatha. The family resided at "Vancluse" near the Campbell County Court House. His daughter, Maria Louisa Dabney, was married to William Cabell Carrington in 1844; removed to Richmond in 1845."
