The ancestor of the Crocket family of Tazewell county was Gabriel Gustave Crocketagni of Montauban in the South of France. He was married ca 1642.
Antoine Dessaure Perronnett De Crocketagni, son of Gabriel (above), was born 10 July 1643 near Montauban. In 1664 he received a commission in the household troops of Louis XIV. He was married to Louise Dessaix in 1669. He was converted to a protestant and thus banished by the emperor and fled to Ireland in 1667 where he changed his name to Crocket. Issue:
- Gabriel Gustave Crockett, born near Bordeaux, France on 12 Oct 1672.
- James Crockett, born near Bordeaux, France on 20 Nov 1674, married Martha Montgomery.
- Joseph Louis Crockett, born near Bordeaux on 9 Jan 1676, married Sarah Stewart of Donegal, Ireland. They were the ancestors of the famous Davy Crockett who was killed at the Alamo.
- Robert Watkins Crockett, born 18 July 1678 in Kenmore Parish, Ireland, married Rachel Watkins. Issue:

- Hannah Watkins Crockett, born 20 June 1705.

- Robert Crockett, born 1707 in Ireland, died 1744 in Augusta County, Virginia.
