Cornwell of Virginia

Elijah Cornwell, the son of George Cornwell, was born 1760 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, died in Jasper County, Georgia on 14 November 1827. He was found on the 1790 Rowan County, North Carolina Census, but died in Jasper County, Georgia. The Inventory and Appraisement of the Estate of Elijah Cornwell, Book P, page 9-19, inventory. Purchasers were: G. W. Cornwell, Hiram Cornwell and Obediah Cornwell. George Ramsey, executor, made a return dated 31 October 1829. Heirs: Eli, Elijah and Obediah Cornwell, William Taylor, Hiram Cornwell, James Diamond, John Henry, Absalom Cornwell, Stewart and George Ramsey. The 1850 Jasper County Census lists Elijah Cornwell, aged 56, born in North Carolina. He married in 1783 Catherine Cavender (born 1764 in Massachusetts, died 19 July 1853 in Jasper County, Georgia), a daughter of Ezekiel and Elizabeth Cavender. Wife, Catharine, born 1764 in Massachusetts, was listed with the family of her son, George W. Cornwell (1850 Jasper County). Issue:[1]

Hiram Cornwell married Mahala Wyne on 28 September 1826 in Jasper County, Georgia.
Obediah Cornwell, born 7 September 1805 in Georgia, died 15 June 1873. He was listed on the 1850 Jasper County Census. Wife, Mary Lane, born 1808 in South Carolina, the daughter of Rody Lane (born 1775 in North Carolina). Issue:

George W. Cornwell, born 8 March 1808 in Georgia, died 5 January 1863, married Eliza S. Lane on 2 January 1828 in Jasper County; listed on the 1850 Jasper County Census. Eliza was born 12 June 1808, died 16 June 1871. His LWT dated 10 December 1861, Jasper County, Will Book 14, page 186. Executors: D. S. Cornwell, H. R. Martin. Brother: Obadiah Cornwell made guardian of his daughters, Adaline and Lenora V. Cornwell. Sons, William D., Davis S. Daughters, Mary J. Key and Ann E. Allen, wife of Newkin Allen. Issue:
