Collier of Virginia and Georgia


Vines Collier, Revolutionary War Soldier, was born in Brunswick County, Virginia. He fought on the Virginia Line, and received bounty grants in Georgia. He married Elizabeth Williamson, the daughter of Benjamin Williamson of Virginia, in 1760. His LWT dated 11 September 1795, probated 11 December 1795 in Oglethorpe County, named all of his children. His grave is located in County Road 150, about one-mile East of its intersection with State Highway 22, and is on the north side of the road, in the edge of a pasture, in Oglethorpe County.   • John Thomas Collier, born 1819 Georgia, married Mary Ann (born 1828). Issue: Francis Collier, born June 1850 Monroe County.
  • Pleasant C. Collier was born 1823 Georgia, married Mary L. Darden (born 1828) on 30 June 1846 in Monroe County. Benjamin Collier, born 1826 Georgia. Issue: Ann E. Collier, born 1847 Monroe County and Sarah Collier, born 1849 Monroe County.

  • Robert Collier, born 1829 Georgia, died 1882, married Elizabeth (1841-1880), buried Collier Cemetery, Monroe County.

    Deed Book E, page 508. 22 August 1809. Henry Potts to Benjamin Collier, both of Oglethorpe County, $50.00 quit claim of land on Little River, 100 acres, adjoining the lines of John Bell, Stephen Potts, Moses Potts and Samuel Potts.
