Carr of Albemarle County


About 1730 Major Thomas Carr of King William County settled in Albemarle County. By 1737 he had patented five hundred acres along the north fork of the Rivanna and on the west side of the South West Mountain. Most of this land he gave to his son, John Carr of Bear Castle in Louisa County.

John Carr, son of Major Thomas, Carr, was married (1) Mary Dabney and (2) Barbara Overton. He died about 1769. Issue:

Crossroads Store

Crossroads Store, 4916 Plank Road. North Garden, Virginia. Located just south of Charlottesville on Route 29, this country store has been welcoming visitors to Albemarle County and Central Virginia since 1820.
