Boykin of Isle of Wight County

Edward Boykin appears to be the first of the name to Isle of Wight County. In 1704 he owned 1100 acres and died 1728. To his son, John, he bequeathed 530 acres which went to Anne (the wife of Edward) after John died. No other children were listed, however, it is probable that Thomas, Edward and William were sons.

William Boykin was married to Margaret, a daughter of Ralph Vicars. He died 1734 in Isle of Wight County.

Edward Boykin, also probably a son of Edward, died in Northampton County Carolina in 1743.

John Boykin, left 530 acres, died intestate. It is said that he had a son, Francis Boykin who died 1761 in Northampton County, North Carolina. Francis had a son, William Boykin who removed to Camden, South Carolina about 1755, a Lieutenant in the 3rd S. C. Troops; later major in Middleton's regiment of infantry during the Revolutionary War.
