Booker of Henry County
Edward Booker of London dealt in tobacco. His son, Captain Richard Booker, settled in Virginia after obtaining substantial land grants in Gloucester County from 1685 to 1695 and in 1704. He was married to Elizabeth Leake.
Richard Booker Jr., son of Richard, patented 970 acres of land in Prince George County (now Amelia) as "Richard Booker of James City County, Gentleman." He served as a justice of the court of James City County in 1730. His wife was Margaret Lowrey, the daughter of William Lowry. He died 1743 in York County.
William Booker, son of Richard Jr., (1714-1755).
Lowry Booker, son of William, settled in Franklin County near the Henry County line at a place called Shady Grove. He was married to Phoebe Cox of Charlotte County.
Edward Booker, son of Lowry, was married to Martha Sheffield, a sister of Colonel William A. Sheffield of Ridgeway. Issue:
- John Booker, married Julia Hamlet.
- Leonard Booker, died during the War Between the States.
- Edward Booker, married Judith Carter, a sister of John W. Carter, Sr.
- Lowry Booker, never married.
- Mary Booker married W. E Haynes of West Virginia.
- Martha Booker married John O. King of Henry County.
- Jesse Wooten Booker married Sallie Cook of Franklin County.
