Bird of Shenandoah County, Virginia and Kentucky
Colonel Abraham Bird was the son of Andrew Bird (died 1750 Augusta County) and grandson of Abraham Bird of Calvert
County, Maryland. In 1778 Colonel Bird was a Colonel in the militia of the Revolutionary War Soldier. In 1776 he
represented Dunmore in the Virginia constitutional Convention; and representative of Dunmore and Shenandoah in the
Virginia House of Delegates from 1776 to 1796. He was married to Rachel Zeigler. He died in Kentucky. Issue:
- Abraham Bird, Captain in Revolutionary War, militia.
- Mark Bird married Sarah Gordon.
- George Bird, Captain, born 1763, married Hannah Allen, the daughter of reuben Allen and Lydia (Moore) Allen. Issue:
- Mark Bird of "Birds Nest" in Shenandoah valley, attorney, Represented Shenandoah, Hardy and
Warren Counties in the Virginia Constitutional Convention of 1850 to 1851 and Judge of the 19th Virginia Judicial
District.
- Andrew Bird, Captain, born 1789 in Shenandoah ounty, married Catherine Fry; removed to Kentucky, then to Missouri, then
California where he was buried in 1850.
