Alderson of Greenbrier, Rockingham and Shenandoah Counties
John Alderson was an elder of the Linville Baptist Church went he went with a Shenandoah group to explore New River in
1773, and settler in Greenbrier County, now in West Virginia. He established a baptist church in the Alleghanies in 1781. His son,
Joseph Alderson, later became elder of his fathers church and also represented Greenbrier County in the Virginia House of
Delegates 1824 to 1830, 1832 to 1833. Josephh had a son, Rev. A. L. Alderson who established the first Baptist church in Kansas.
