Love of Crittenden County, Kentucky



William Love, Revolutionary War Soldier from South Carolina, served as a Lieutenant in the 3rd Regiment; resigned 1777. [1]William Love was married to Esther, the daughter of William Calhoun and Agnes (Long) Calhoun of Abbeville County, South Carolina.

"South Carolina Statesman, John C. Calhoun, had numerous relatives in the area; William Love, for illustration, the early Justice of the Peace, was married to Esther Calhoun, a first cousin to Senator Calhoun."[2]

"the seat of Justice first being where Major William Love chose to hold court. This native of South Carolina, being 38 years old, was the oldest justice of the area, but he snored." [3]

Esther was born 9/30/1765 in Abbeville County and died 3/2/1844 in Crittenden County, Kentucky, buried in the Piney Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Crittenden County, near Marion. Mrs. Esther Love was listed on the 1810 Caldwell County, Kentucky Census.[4] Issue:
