Funk of Shenandoah County, Virginia and Clark County, Kentucky
Adam Funk was born 1733 and resided in the Shenandoah valley. He was married to Sarah Long. Issue:
- Adam Funk (1758-1830) removed from Shenandoah County to Clark County, Kentucky about 1790 and from there to
Fayette County, Ohio in 1808; and finally to McLean County, Illinois in 1824. He was married to Mary, daughter of
Philip Moore. Issue:
- Isaac Funk (1797-1865) was born in Clark County, Kentucky, owned 20,000 acrfes in Funks Grove, Illinois, one of the
wealthiest farmers north of the Ohio, in the Mississippi valley. At his death his estate was valued at more than
$2,000,000. He served as a representative from McLean County, Illinois in the Illinois General Assembly of 1840 to 1842 and in
the Illinois State Senate from 1862 to 1865. He was married to Cassandra Tharp. Issue:
- George W. Funk, born 1827, served as a representative of McLean County in the Illinois House of
Representatives from 1870 to 1872.
- Jacob Funk,born 1830, was president of the State National Bank in Bloomington, Illinois.
- Duncan McArthur Funk, born 1832, representative of McLean County in the Illinois House of Representatives from
1896 to 1902.
- Marquis de la Fayette Funk, born 1834, ser ed as representative of McLean County in the House of Representatives from
1882 to 1884 and the Illinois State Senate from 1884 to 1888.
- Benjamin Franklin Funk, born 1838, married Sarah J. Hamilton. He was a Mayor of Bloomington, Illinois and a member
of Congress from Illinois from 1893to 1895.
