Davis of Jessamine County, Kentucky

The Rickets came from England, William Ricketts being a captain in Cromwell's army during the conquest of Jamaica in 1662; also the commander of Bluefield's Fort; settled in Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland in 1672.

William Davis (1801-1875) was married to a great-descendant, Martha Ricketts (1804-1888). After the marriage they left Montgomery County, Maryland to settle in Jessamine County, Kentucky. Their son, Robert Wilson Davis was born 22 Nov 1836 in Jessamine County, Kentucky and died near Lexington, Kentucky. During the War Between the States, he served in the 8th Kentucky Cavalry in Morgan's Brigade and was a prisoner at Camp Chose, then was taken to Camp Douglas in Chicago. Eventually he was exchanged and went to serve under Jefferson Davis. Robert was married in 1874 to Isabelle Truesdale McConath. Issue:
