Carson of Washington County, Virginia and Lincoln County, Kentucky


Samuel Carson left his last will and testament in York County Pennsylvania, naming three sons, viz: David Carson of age, William Carson, a minor and Samuel Carson, a minor.

David Carson, Sr., born 1741 in Ireland, was married to Elizabeth Dysart. They removed to Washington County, Virginia in 1772 and died near Liberty Hall in Washington County in 1803 or 1804. He was a surveyor in Abingdon, Virginia. He was buried in the Old Moore Cemetery in Lodo, Virginia. He fought in the Indian battles during 1776 under Colonel William Christian; served in the Revolutionary War under Captain Edmondson's company, under Colonel Campbell, at the Battle of King's Mountain. Issue:

James Carson, born 1766 in Virginia, died Jan 1818 in Fayette County, Kentucky, married on 23 Jan 1789 Isabella Gibson in Rockbridge County, Virginia.

Mary Carson, born ca 1772 in Washington County,Virginia, died 29 Dec 1844 in Macon, Missouri. She was married William Craig on 8 April 1790 in Washington County, Virginia.

Margaret Ann Carson, born ca 1774 in Washington County, married David Craig on 28 Feb 1793 in Washington County, Virginia.

William Carson, born ca 1776 in Washington County, Virginia, died May 1818 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He was married to Eleanor Dysart on 30 Jul 1801 in Washington County.

Joseph Carson, born 2 Jul 1777 in Washington County, Virginia, died 2 Mar 1815 in Mt. Vernon, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He was married to Mary A. Evans on 30 Mar 1797 in Washington County.

David Carson, Jr. was born 26 Aug 1780 in Washington County, Virginia, died in 1844. He was married to Cynthia Meek, born 10 Aug 1783 in Washington County, Virginia, died 26 Jan 1850 in Lincoln County, Kentucky. Cynthia was the daughter of Major Samuel Meek who served in the Virginia Legislature from 1797 to 1803. Issue:
Ransom Carson, born 30 March 1816, died 10 December 1886. He was one of the twelve children of David Carson, Jr., all being born in Kentucky. He was married to Jaila H. Curtis on 15 Sept 1836.(born 29 Sept 1811 died 9 May 1861). They were buried at the Buffalo Cemetery in Stanford, Kentucky. Ater Jaila's death, Ransom Carson married (2) Mrs. Sophia James on on 14 Aug 1862. Issue:
Mary E. Carson, born 29 Jun 1837, married 4 Oct 1855 Simeon Hicks.
Sarah Catherine Carson, born 23 Apr 1839, married Samuel Rice Welch on 25 Jan 1858.
Cynthia Carson, born May 1841, died Feb 1890.
Charles Carson, born 10 May 1843.
Margaret A. Carson, born 29 Sept 1845 died 20 Nov 1869, married Charles Rochester on 11 Nov 1867.
Martha C. Carson, born 29 Aug 1851, died 21 Sept 1876.
Willie Brown Carson, born 25 Jul 1863.
Thomas M. Carson, born 7 Jul 1865.
Lettie Carson, born 12 Jan 1866.
Samuel Carson, born 19 Sept 1783 in Washington County, died in 1827 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, married Mary Watson.

Elizabeth Carson, born in Washington County, Virginia, married John Brown, Jr.

Charles Campbell Carson, born 18 Jul 1786 in Washington County, Virginia, died 15 Mar 1863. He was married to Elizabeth Dysart on 10 Feb 1814 in Washington County.
