John Loggins, Sr.
John Loggins, Sr. was born October 11, 1733 in Orange County, Virginia. He enlisted in the Revolutionary War in 1777, in the 2nd Regt of the Virginia Line. His application for a pension was dated April 1834, wherein he provided his date and place of birth, stating that he had lived in Halifax County, Virginia, Union County, South Carolina, and Pendleton District, South Carolina. His son, Samuel Loggins of Hall County, Georgia made application on January 14, 183 for his father's benefits.The contents of John Loggins Sr.'s application are interesting. " I am acquainted with Messrs. Hugh McDonald, Esq., Charles Smith, and John Metter, Esq."
Two of John Loggins, Sr.'s sons served in the Revolutionary War, as follows:
- Major Loggins, born ca 1764 in Halifax County, Virginia, listed on the 1810 Pendleton District, South Carolina Census. He drew in the 1827 Land Lottery of Hall County, Georgia as a Revolutionary War Soldier.
- James Loggins, born ca 1760 Halifax County, Virginia, resident of Charlotte County, Virginia in 1790, removed to Greenville County, South Carolina, Franklin County Georgia, and died in Hall County, Georgia. He was entitled to Bounty Warrants and listed in the book, Revolutionary War Records, Virginia, Vol. I, by Brumbaugh " James Logan, Soldier, Infantry,Martin Loggins, Corporal, Infantry."
