Lewis Harrison Jones Sr.
"Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone!. Departed this life on the 11th of January at his residence in Marshall County, Mississippi, Harrison Jones Sr., in his 84th year. He was a native of Cumberland County, Virginia, and was one of the Virginia Volunteers in the battle of Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina in which he lost his right leg. He removed to Georgia in 1807 and resided principally in Morgan and Newton Counties until above five years ago when he moved to Mississippi. He raised seven sons to manhood, five of whom became professional men and two of them farmers, all wealthy and not a gambler or drunkard among them. He was an honest, hardworking, upright man. Leaves an aged widow with whom he had lived upwards of fifty years, and five surviving sons."
