John Hatcher

Major John Hatcher was born 1750 in Henrico Parish, Virginia, and was married to Mary Brady of Virginia. During the Revolutionary War, he served in the Regiment of William Candler, for which he received a bounty grant of 187-1/2 acres of land in Washington County, Georgia in 1785.

In 1810 Hatcher removed to Wilkinson County, Georgia where he died and was buried in the old family cemetery of his plantation in the Passmore District. Wilkinson County Deed Book A, page 619: " John Hatcher, Sr. of Wilkinson County, for love and affection, deeds Crawford County land to my grandchildren, Jeremiah B. Hatcher, Nancy L. Hatcher, Polly Hatcher, Cicero Hatcher, Elizabeth Hatcher, Amanda Hatcher, Henry and Obedience Hatcher, child of John Hatcher, Jr. and Peggy Hatcher. Date: 10 April 1835."
