Christopher Chambliss

Christopher Chambliss was a son of John Chambliss, Jr., who died before 1777 and left a widow, Mary Littleton Chambliss, who moved to Richmond County, Georgia. The family were members of the Welsh Neck Baptist Church in Cheraw District, South Carolina.
Christopher Chambliss, Revolutionary War Soldier, was born in 1760/1770 probably in the Cheraw District, and was listed in 1820-1840 Bibb County, Georgia. Census. He received land grants in Wilkes County in 1785; in Washington County, the certificate signed by Colonel James McNeill, petitioned for 575 acres of bounty land, Lot 849, Warrant 2439, date June 5, 1784. There is no record of his ever having taken up this land.
There is a deed in Greene County, Georgia, January 22, 1789, Christopher Chambliss to Richard Foster, Vol. 2, page 46.
The administration of the estate of Christopher Chambliss dated September 1840 in Bibb County, Georgia, naming legatees as Rachel Chambbliss, Sr., Thomas G. Jordan, William Taylor, Lawson G. Chambliss, Perry Neal, G. W. Davis, Simon Parker, Samuel Chambliss, Jeptha Chambliss, John Danielly, Andrew D. Chambliss, David D. Davis, and Elison Taylor.
Christopher was married twice. The second wife was Rachel Mashburn, whom he married in Warren County on August 15, 1821.
