https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Blount_(statesman) Thomas Blount born at Blount Hall in Craven County, North Carolina on May 10, 1749. He entered the Continental Army at the age of 16 and served faithfully to the close of the war. He was subsequently made a major-general of the militia of his native state. He was a valued member of Congress for many years. He was a man in the full sense of the word. He died on February 8th, 1812 while at his post in the National Legislature. His parents were Jacob Blount of Beaufort County, North Carolina and Barbara Gray Blount. Jacob Blount acquired an estate of six thousand acres on Contentnea Creek between 1757 and 1783.
