William Blackstock

Battle of Blackstock Plantation on November 20, 1780

William Blackstock was born ca 1720 in Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland. He is believed to be the son of Thomas Blackstock, born ca 1670 in the above place who brought his family to South Carolina and had sons, Harry Blackstock, born 1698 in Belfast, Ireland, and the said William Berry Blackstock.

William Berry Blackstock was married to Mary Irwin, born 1721 in Pennsylvania, died 1777 in Union County, South Carolina, buried on the Blackstock plantation. His LWT dated Sept 19, 1788, probated on Jan 2, 1799 in Union County, filed in Box 2, Pack 51. He named his wife, Euphemy, and children: Mary Beard, William Blackstock and Ruth Blackstock.

William Blackstock, son of WIlliam Berry Blackstock, was born ca 1750, and made his LWT on February 17, 1841 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He married Mary Yarborough and the couple had four daughters and one son (died without issue).

The Revolutionary Battle of Blakstock was fought on his farm November 20, 1780 on the southside of the Tyger River in Spartanburg District, South Carolina, sixty miles from Winnsboro and thirty-five miles from Fish Dam Ford on Broad River. He lived to be nearly one hundred years. Died 1841."
