Update between progress of a young and old player

January 7th, 2010

A year later. Miles Skedsvold aged another year, to 15. Jeannette Austin the grandmother chose to be frozen in time. Especially so far as retaining physical agility is concerned. Ok I admit there is a physical learning curve here. However, I never quit! How does that powerful advantage compare with Miles? Well, he practices every spare moment…before school, after school, all evening, every evening. So what do we have here in the way of progress? My
ball goes straight down the fairway and is described by Miles as like Ben Hogan. Miles’ swing is very Tiger Woods. The compliments flow like honey while he plays. I average 2 putts while Miles sinks 1.
There is one that we have both learned well. And that is, that lessons are a critical element in making good progress. Lessons simply save a great deal of bad practice sessions. Fundamentals are so very important. I strongly recommend the Accelerized golf lessons available at Fox Creek Golf Club in Smyrna GA. The computer model really helps to make the mark!

Til The Cows Come Home

December 23rd, 2009

Pretty day in Atlanta. Crowdy golf course at Fox Creek. Dedicated golfers play in cold weather. A lesson coming up for me to zero in on chipping. There is only one way to improve and that is to practice til the cows come home. I use same club over and over until I “get it”. Tis only means for me.

Tiger Quits. Super Grandmother Steps Up.

December 12th, 2009

Don’t worry everybody, I am ready to step into the winning arena and replace Tiger. It is a matter of calculation. Let’s see, at the present rate of my learning curve, I should claim the title of the World’s Best offer at 92 years!
Hmmm.

The Flop Shot

December 10th, 2009

Learning the flop shot has not been easy for me. Today I discovered why. Instead of fully opening the club face (where it looks flat) I tilted it slightly. The next two steps fulfill the mission. A full back swing is indicated and a fully extended swing-through.
The last part executes the flop – a well placed ball which does not roll.
falls in th rolling.

Is there a bad day?

November 19th, 2009

I mean….do we really think that we enjoy better playing days? So you get a bad start and immediately assume that you normally play better? But do we! Ideally 18 holes are played with few errors. It is virtually impossible have 0 errors. Is the score a true analysis of the play? I do not think so. A misstrike can result in some good luck but the ball was still misstruck. Hitting solid balls is a pleasure and certainly the desired result rather than the score. And consistency…a depending on ones self to deliver.
